Iris Software News - April 2026
We expect 2026 will be a year of fundamental transformation in technology, not one with incremental changes as we’ve seen in recent years. The question for organizations today is no longer whether to adapt: it's how fast and how far to go while the future landscape emerges.
Here are the major shifts we see ahead as we work with our clients in different domain and solutions areas.
Gen AI is moving from being a productivity booster to the backbone of software design, development, and modernization. At the start of 2025, we saw excitement but also an abundance of caution as most of our clients adopted AI coding assistants and enabled our teams to incorporate them in their activities. In the second half of the year, these tools evolved rapidly, expanding their context windows and introducing more agentic capabilities that go well beyond code suggestions. While adoption is widespread, we continue to see hesitation among some senior-level professionals, with usage largely limited to IDE-based or chatbot interactions rather than agentic modes. This will change over the course of 2026 and that will significantly redefine how software engineering is done.
It is easy to use AI coding assistants to generate new code and in our experience most of the effort is spent enhancing and scaling what is already in production. Business expectations will evolve to demand significant capabilities in far shorter timeframes. Platform thinking will assist this –using AI not just to build faster, but to design capabilities that seamlessly enhance existing systems, scale, perform reliably, and compound value over time.
Traditionally, scaling meant building large product-oriented delivery (POD)-based teams with clear structures. As agentic AI matures and technical constraints
decrease, this model must evolve. At scale, AI effectiveness depends on structured, living context—not just for coding, but across the entire software lifecycle. Context that stays current alongside the product will be essential for collaboration, quality, and long-term evolution.
Over the past several years, work has evolved from just frontend or backend to full stack in order to deliver value. As AI reduces the barrier to adopting new languages and platforms, engineers will evolve as Polyglots. As specialization in languages and frameworks becomes less important, developing comfort in using AI across a variety of language/framework/platform contexts will drive growth.Going forward, PODs of intelligent agents guided by experienced engineers will become the norm. How teams collaborate, what they work on, and how work gets done will fundamentally change. Organizations that adapt early will lead; those that don’t risk falling behind.
Our teams are moving beyond experimentation to disciplined adoption of Gen AI – translating capability into measurable outcomes. Through Copilot enablement programs and broad, structured training on AI tools, Iris teams are seeing productivity gains ranging from 7-12%, 15-20%, and 11-30% on various projects, along with strong client appreciation.
Together, these efforts reflect a clear shift: from adopting tools to building AI-enabled engineering practices that scale, integrate, and deliver real business value.
Panel Sponsor Payments Canada Summit Toronto | May 5-7, 2026
Join us for an insightful session we are hosting on May 5th: "Beyond speed: reimagining the value, intelligence and resilience of modern payments." Iris’ expert moderator and industry leaders will discuss the technologies and trends transforming the banking and payments sectors.
We are pleased to highlight several recent client success stories where beneficial business outcomes were achieved by utilizing our Generative and Agentic AI and Application Engineering solutions.
Implementing Agentic AI solutions for a major Canadian bank’s wealth management division, including a multi-agent Gen AI pipeline to automate end-to-end credit underwriting that’s already reduced processing time from eight hours to under 45 minutes, by autonomously analyzing asset statements and generating policy-compliant recommendations. In the trust services unit, an AI-powered lead generation system continuously uncovers high-value estate litigation opportunities, enabling fast, precise, and proactive identification and pursuit of new business.
A leading Canadian bank’s commercial banking business is seeing a 30% average efficiency improvement and faster decision-making with a Gen AI-based workflow platform, developed and productionized by Iris, to design, test, and deploy intelligent workflows through a governed, self-service UI, integrated with existing systems. The platform now powers 18 production use cases, including analytics for counterparty credit risk assessment, AI-driven data harmonization for extracting and mapping business information from email contexts, and automated credit commentary generation for credit summary reports.
Iris implemented a Gen AI-powered conversational interface to query and visualize student performance data for a major educational testing organization, enabling conversational querying of governed datasets. Using deterministic NL-to-SQL conversion, controlled target datasets and multi-step query generation and validation, the solution delivers a nearly 100% confidence level in query accuracy, significantly outperforming the 80% levels of typical industry solutions.
By further developing our proprietary iDlite Gen AI for Software Engineering solution and integrating with their bank’s SDLC tools, product managers on the retail banking operations technology team of a major Canadian bank accelerated their agile software development processes, achieving 25% savings in time
and effort and enabling them to focus on other high-priority tasks.
Automation of a leading global bank’s end-to-end AML case investigations, suspicious activity alerts, and customer data correlation with Agentic and Gen AI transformed the AML process. It enabled 4X faster case resolution and improvements in standardization, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
Rationalization of cross-channel, real-time payment APIs for a major Australian bank brought 50% reduction in API endpoints and is projected to achieve multi-million-dollars of cost savings.
New Gen AI interface and API developer portal for a leading logistics services provider enhanced UX and productivity, reducing API onboarding to 1-2 days.
Unified multi-engine commercial payments reporting platform for leading Canadian bank resulted in high-volume, consistently accurate and timely automated reporting that meets client SLAs and regulatory expectations, operational efficiency from elimination of manual data stitching, superior UX and a future-ready foundation.
U.S. logistics services provider’s automated spot bidding program improved its bid-to-win conversion rates by 25-30%, carrier utilization by 15% and decreased load skips by 50% and missed bids to 0%.
Three Iris Gen AI and enterprise innovations were honored at the recent AGBA, one of India’s leading platforms for technology excellence and digital innovation.
